Workforce Development

The Workforce Development Division is dedicated to supporting and developing the growth of the clinical and administrative workforce at CHCs, and helping to make Region X CHCs both Providers and Employers of Choice in their communities.

Workforce emphasizes four interconnected parts within its program:
NWRPCA connects individuals to and within CHCs through the current Workforce Development Initiatives:
  • A.T. Still Campus (Portland)
  • Education Health Center Initiative
    • Teaching Health Center Guide (English)
    • Teaching Health Center Guide (Spanish, Español)
  • HPET Region X Career Pathways

For more information, contact Robyn Weiss, PT, M.Ed
Director of Workforce Development.

Community Health Improvement Programs

Community Health Worker Institute

The Community Health Worker Institute serves as a training, technical assistance, and resource hub for community health centers (CHCs) to help them train and integrate Community Health Workers (CHWs) into health center care teams.

The Institute offers training and technical assistance for the following three focus areas:
  1. Upskill training and capacitation for CHWs
  2. Technical assistance to CHCs for successful integration of CHWs into primary care teams
  3. Support for policies to support sustainable financing for the CHW workforce
For more information on the CHW Institute, contact Kelly Volkmann, Project Director.

CHW/Promotor/a Peer Learning Workgroup

The CHW Peer Learning Workgroup is a space in which Community Health Workers/Promotorxs de Salud can connect with one another, network, share, and grow. NWRPCA provides networking sessions and free training for CHWs/Promotorxs on a monthly basis. The Peer Learning Workgroup is a great opportunity for CHWs/Promotorxs to connect with others around our region with similar roles, and the trainings allow them to continue adding to their toolbox.

For more information on the CHW/Promotor/a Peer Learning Workgroup, please email Christian Castro, Community Health Improvement Specialist.

Vulnerable Populations

Community health centers (CHCs) serve a high number of individuals from the most vulnerable populations including seasonal agricultural workers. Monthly Farmworker Coalition calls allow for coordination, information sharing, partnerships, and training among CHCs and allied organizations. This space allows for frontline updates and State/National updates.

For more information on the CHW/Promotor/a Peer Learning Workgroup, please email Christian Castro, Community Health Improvement Specialist.
