2016 Western Forum for Migrant and Community Health

Access, Equity, Justice

Northwest Regional Primary Care Association is looking forward to kicking off 2016 with the Western Forum for Migrant and Community Health! Join us in Portland, Oregon, on February 24-26, 2016 to attend sessions involving agricultural worker health, community health worker programs, community health policy, public health, immigration, partnerships, and leadership development.

The focus for 2016’s Western Forum emphasizes the intersection of primary care and the social determinants of health. A diverse set of sessions with dynamic speakers are featured throughout the three day event. Sessions will feature topics ranging from exploring community health worker programs, organizational leadership, outreach and enrollment, and addressing health inequities through partnerships and community collaborations.

This year, the Western Forum features two new tracks addressing agricultural worker access to care and immigration policy. The Agricultural Worker Access 2020 Campaign aims to have Migrant Health Center grantees increase the number of agricultural workers served by 15% each year for the next five years. To support this campaign, the Western Forum will feature several sessions targeted at improving access to care for agricultural workers, including accurately verifying patients’ agricultural worker status, and strategies for reaching subpopulations including H2A workers and LGBTQ agricultural workers. In addition, the Immigration Policy track will help debunk myths and promote a better understanding of the complexity of immigration policy, immigrant status and enrolling individuals into coverage with mixed status families. These two tracks promote the heart and soul of the Western Forum: to address, improve and increase access to care for migrant and seasonal agricultural workers while making healthcare a right for everyone.

Registration is officially open at a discounted rate – act now to receive over 10% off your registration.
