Overview

 

Join us for this year's Uniform Data System Training taking place virtually December 2-4, 2020. This three-day online training will cover the preparation of the 2020 Uniform Data System (UDS Report). Attendees will understand the who, what, when, where, and how of UDS reporting, discuss common reporting errors, and review key resources and supports available. Participants should plan to attend all sessions for a full and comprehensive understanding of the complete UDS report. 


Audience: Just like the original in-person training, this virtual training is designed as an all-levels program' all financial, clinical, and administrative staff are welcome to attend in order to hone their reporting skills and share their experience with their peers. UDS Training is an ideal program for many employees, including C-Suite professionals as well as individuals in the following departments: Revenue Cycle, Data/Informatics, Database, Performance Improvement, Analyst, Controller, IT/HIT, QI/QA, Risk Management, Accounting, and Contracts/Grants. There are no prerequisites for this training, and no advanced preparation required for the training.

Objectives

 

Over the course of three days, this training will allow participants to:

  • Learn how to successfully complete the UDS Report, and how to avoid and resolve potential reporting issues.
  • Understand the value of the UDS for health center operations and to the health center program, and receive tips to facilitate a successful submission.
  • Describe the role and importance of UDS data to population health management.
  • Identify strategies to use UDS data to inform patient care and improve health outcomes (quality improvement).
  • Learn about ways to apply the use of UDS data in operational and fiscal considerations (value-based care, patient stratification, etc.).
  • Identify at least one data validation priority for your health center, and one way to use trend report tools to benchmark your center's performance.

Speaker Highlights

Amanda Baker, MPH

Amanda Baker, MPH, is a consultant with six years’ experience providing training and technical assistance to Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) with a particular focus on data collection and performance data. Ms. Baker serves as the Project Manager and Training and Technical Assistance Lead for the 1400 grantees of the Bureau of Primary Health Care’s Uniform Data System (UDS) program. Ms. Baker provides direct support to the over 1,400 health centers, vendors, and BPHC staff through a support line and annual trainings dedicated to provide instruction on the UDS Report content. She also serves as a reviewer with responsibility for working 1:1 with health centers to confirm the accuracy and completeness of reported program data. Ms. Baker is a Community of Practice facilitator for BPHC Grantee’s through the HRSA Center of Excellence for Behavioral Health Technical Assistance Project and served as a Training and Technical Assistance Coordinator for MCHB’s Healthy Start EPIC Center grantees and provided direct support to the 100 Healthy Start grantees over the phone, through technical assistance, and at regional trainings focused on data collection, implementation, and data reporting. Ms. Baker has worked on several other projects at JSI focused on qualitative and quantitative data analysis and collection including with the Vermont Department of Health, New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, New York State Department of Health, and Dartmouth College. Ms. Baker earned a BA from Hartwick College and an MPH from the State University at Albany School of Public Health with a focus in Epidemiology.
