Overview

 

Join us for the "Responding to the Opioid Epidemic: Leveraging Care Integration in the Health Center Setting" two-day training this November in Seattle, Washington!

 

This training is ideal for Region X (Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington) CHC medical and behavioral health providers.

Objectives

  

In the “Responding to the Opioid Epidemic: Leveraging Care Integration in the Health Center Setting” Sea Mar Community Health Center, Northwest Regional Primary Care Association, and the Washington Association for Community Health come together to offer two full days of training targeting primary care providers, mental health clinicians, and substance use disorder counselors to address the whole spectrum of care around opioids. This will include best practices for the treatment of pain, managing patients on chronic opioid therapy, and treating opioid use disorder in the health center setting. 

 

This integrated practice training will have two breakout tracks geared towards primary care and behavioral health. 

 

Also note, this training conference will meet the Washington State CME requirements for physicians, ARNPs, and PAs to prescribe opioids effective January 1st, 2019. It will also meet the deadline for this training requirement of December 31st, 2019.

Speaker Highlights

 

Several sessions will be led by national experts Dr. Don and Martha Teater. 

Don has worked as Medical Advisor at the National Safety Council addressing the national epidemic of opioid abuse, addiction, and overdose; and he was lead facilitator for the expert panel discussion during the development of the CDC Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain — United States, 2016.  

 

Martha Teater is a licensed clinical addictions specialist, licensed professional counselor, and licensed marriage and family therapist. Martha has done trainings all over the U.S. and internationally on such topics as behavioral treatment of chronic pain, DSM-5, evidence-based treatment of trauma, compassion fatigue, and ethics.

 

Don and Martha recently co-authored their workbook: Treating Chronic Pain: Pill Free Approaches to Move People from Hurt To Hope.

Continuing Education

 

In support of helping health center staff, clinicians and behavioral health providers pursue professional development, NWRPCA trainings are a consistent source of continuing education units (CEU).

 

Delivery Method of all courses: Group-Live
Prerequisites: None 
Advance Preparation: Training material will be posted on NWRPCA learning vault 1-2 weeks prior to the conference. Access to, including supporting documents, can be found here: www.nwrpca.org/my-events.

 

This training will offer 7.0 CME, CNE, NASW CEU credits per day.

 

Continuing Medical Education (CME)

Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending. Past conferences have offered up to 25.5 credit hours.

Continuing Nursing Education (CNE)

Continuing Nursing credit will be awarded through Migrant Clinicians Network. Migrant Clinicians Network is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

 

National Association of Social Workers (NASW)

This workshop has been approved by the Washington Chapter, National Association of Social Workers (NASW) for Licensed Social Workers, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapists and Licensed Mental Health Counselors. NWRPCA Provider number is #1975-415.

In order to receive CEUs, all attendees are responsible to sign in and sign out at each session during the conference.

 

CEU certificates are accessed online. Conference attendees will be sent an email after the conference with instructions on how to process your CEU online. You will be responsible for completing the process online and printing your certificate.

Standard Rate for Behavioral Health Providers & Care Team Members (RNs, Social Workers (LCSW, etc.), Case Managers, Licensed Professional Counselors, Mental Health Counselors, Substance Use Disorder Counselors/Clinicians): $250

 

Student Rate - Students (Including Residency Providers): $250

 

All Other Attendees: $350
