NWRPCA and its Region X SPCA partners have created an opportunity for Northwest health centers to host an Osteopathic Medical student from AT Still University's Portland Oregon Campus - known as the NWRPCA campus.

Research shows that physicians are more likely to work in areas where they have gone to medical school or done their residency. The A.T. Still Program helps build the Region X workforce pipeline by introducing more students to opportunities in Northwest health centers.

In 2009, ten Osteopathic Medical students from the NWRPCA Portland Oregon Campus, with a designated interest in the Northwest, will begin their 3rd year rotations in 2009. The A.T. Still NWRPCA Campus is currently accepting applications from Region X health centers to host these students and the next incoming class.

Health centers seeking to host a Ostepathic Medical Student will have the following expectations:

  • Commit to the outpatient clinical rotations within your facility
  • Approach your local hospitals assess interest in partnering for inpatient opportunities
  • Approach other partners who may supply other rotations not available within the CHC
  • Consider opportunities for student housing within your community

Accepted preceptors will be awarded:

  • Position as Adjunct Faculty - AT Still
  • Access to university library website with resources such as Medline and MD Consult
  • CME hours
  • Web based training on "best practices" for precepting
  • Improved clinical acumen
