  • National Library of Medicine LiverTox
    NLM announces the release of LiverTox, a new resource for health care practitioners and researchers studying liver injury associated with prescription and non-prescription drugs, herbals, and dietary supplements. LiverTox provides a searchable database of about 700 medications available in the United States. Drug-induced liver injury is the leading cause of acute liver failure in the country.   • Cervical Cancer Guidelines

  • HRSA Program Assistance Letter on HIV
    To support identification and documentation of health center success in increasing access to HIV testing and related services, the Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC) has proposed to add two new clinical performance measures to the Uniform Data System (UDS) required reporting for calendar year 2014, including HIV positivity rate and HIV cases with timely follow-up.  HRSA's includes a list of key resources health centers can use to learn more about guidelines for HIV screening and related services.
  • Million Hearts Initiative
    The Million Hearts Initiative's goal is to prevent one million heart attacks and strokes by 2017.  The website has great information and resources on heart disease, including prevention strategies, treatment protocols, and tools for clinicians.
  • Northwest ADA Center Resources
    Northwest ADA Center provides unbiased, accurate information and guidance on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and serves Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. The Center is staffed with experts in disability, rehabilitation, business, rehabilitation engineering, special education, the built environment, accessibility to buildings, website accessibility, civil rights law, and the role of the ADA Coordinator.   • Obesity Resources from the CDC

  • Obesity Resources from the VA/DoD
    The VA/DoD recently released new clinical practice guidelines for screening and management of overweight and obesity.
  • Receipt of Diabetes Preventive Care among Safety Net Patients Associated with Differing Levels of Insurance Coverage
    This study used electronic health records from 50 health centers in Oregon to determine if limited or no insurance correlated with receiving four different preventive tests for diabetes patients. The study found that patients with no or interrupted coverage were less likely to receive the recommended preventive tests.   • CDC Learning Connection Web Page
    The CDC Learning Connection webpage has e-learning courses that are open to the public and some provide continuing education credits. While some content is hosted by external websites, all content has been reviewed by the CDC and confirmed as accurate and follows CDC guidelines. Find the CDC Learning Connection Website here.
  • CDC: Understanding Evidence in Violence Prevention
    Understanding Evidence is a new, interactive web resource developed by CDC's Division of Violence Prevention that supports public health practitioners in making evidence-informed decisions around violence prevention. This free, online resource offers practitioners and others working to prevent violence important knowledge and resources for using evidence in their decision-making processes.   • Geriatric Training Tools & Nursing Continuing Education Credits
    Community Health Partners and the National Nursing Centers Consortium are working with the Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing and The Consortium of NY Geriatric Education Centers on a national online education initiative called “Primary Care for Older Adults” (PCOA). PCOA is designed for advance practice nurses and consists of 11 e-learning clinical training modules and one bonus staff resource module. The trainings were created to improve and enhance the primary care that older patients receive. Free nursing continuing education credits will be provided and more information about the training tools and subject matter is available here.
  • HIV Primary Care Training and Certificate Program
    HealthHIV has online courses for physicians and other providers on the management of HIV, and offers AMA CME credits.  
  • HRSA & AHRQ launch Free Online Continuing Education Modules for Safety-Net Providers
    The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) are jointly launching a new online resource that offers safety-net providers free, evidence-based, and accredited continuing education/continuing medical education (CE/CME). The 36 online modules offer education and training on a variety of disease management areas including diabetes, heart conditions, mental health and infectious diseases.   • Seattle STD/HIV Prevention Training Center
    Delivering clinical training to healthcare providers in AK, ID, OR and WA on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of STD and HIV since 1979. The Prevention Training Center is part of the University of Washington School of Medicine and is funded by the CDC. Clinical and laboratory training programs (most offer CNE/CME) include in-person lectures and didactic courses, hands-on clinical and laboratory experience, individual clinical consultation on all aspects of managing patient care, on-site technical assistance, and Internet-based training and educational resources.
