- Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO)
ASTHO seeks to address health inequity, and producers webinars, creates infographics, and releases reports and case studies from each state.
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Addressing Social Determinants of Health
The CDC released a report on promoting health equity and helping communities address social determinants of health. The report includes case studies, suggestions for communities, and resources to help.
- CDC Health Equity and Racial/Ethnic Disparities Resources
The CDC has a variety of reports that discuss health equity, racial and ethnic approaches to community health, inequalities, and many more.
- CMS Data for Research on Disparities Webcast
This webcast describes CMS data resources, files, and measures that can be used in studying disparities in heath care
- County Health Rankings
This website shows county rankings in each state by health factors and health outcomes, and also has personal stories from all over the country, and community health improvement resources for each state.
- Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Disparities Action Plan
The HHS Action Plan to Reduce Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities outlines goals and actions the Department of Health and Human Services will take to reduce health disparities among racial and ethnic minorities.
- HHS National Partnership for Action to End Health Disparities
The National Partnership’s mission is to increase the effectiveness of programs that target the elimination of health disparities through the coordination of partners, leaders, and stakeholders committed to action. The partnership offers webinars, toolkits, and face sheets.
- Health Equity Institute
The Health Equity Institute is part of San Francisco State University, and the institute does research on how to reduce health inequity in communities and how to enhance resiliency and strength. The institute creates communication tools, partners with communities, and supports projects that address health equity.
- Healthy People 2020
Healthy People 2020 is a 10-year agenda for improving the Nation’s health, started in 2010. A key aspect of the plan is health equity and social determinants of health. Read move about the topic here.
- National Association of City and County Health Officials (NACCHO)
NACCHO’s Health Equity and Social Justice initiatives help health departments explore how they can better address causes of health inequality, and help advance the capacity of local health departments. The organization offers web-based courses, toolkits, and publications.
- NACCHO’s Roots of Health Inequity
An online learning collaborative, Roots of Health Inequity seeks to teach participants how to explore social processes that produce health inequities, strategize ways to act on the root causes of health inequity, and form relationships with others who are working on similar projects.
- Prevention Institute
The Prevention Institute is a national organization that is committed to fostering health and social equity and advances prevention efforts by building capacity of organizations around the country. The institute has various tools and frameworks, provides technical assistance support, and does policy analysis and research.
- Public Health Institute
The Public Health Institute focuses on community empowerment and community-based solutions, partnering with community coalitions, health departments, and other groups to advance policy and environmental change strategies to improve health outcomes.
- Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF)
The RWJF seeks to improve the health of all Americans. The RWJF funds projects on various topics related to health equity, such as health insurance coverage, health workforce, healthy communities, and health system improvement.
- Unnatural Causes
Unnatural Causes is a seven-part documentary series exploring racial and socioeconomic inequalities in health.
- World Health Organization (WHO)
The WHO page on equity has resources including indicators for monitoring Millennium Development Goals, information on the Commission on Social Determinants of Health, and an independent inquiry into inequalities in health. The WHO page on social determinants of health has information on the Rio Political Declaration, which made tackling social determinants of health a fundamental approach to the work of WHO.
