You asked, we listened: results from the O&E survey in December
have shaped plans for outreach and enrollment opportunities for our
members. NWRPCA’s goal is to meet the needs of the general membership
while offering support and resources for pilot projects. This is what we
have planned for you:
(registration is required) All webinar info can be found here.
O&E: What All CHC Staff Should Know April 2,2014 – 12 to 1:30pm
Community health centers (CHCs) play a critical role in outreach and
enrollment, a vital piece of the Affordable Care Act. Each CHC’s
outreach and enrollment team helps connect consumers with health
insurance coverage, but what about the rest of the CHC staff? This
webinar will educate CHC staff at all levels on the key elements of
outreach and enrollment. Register here.
O&E: Making the Business Case May 7, 2014 – 12 to 1:30pm
Community health centers (CHCs) received funding from HRSA to help the
uninsured gain affordable health coverage through their state or the
federal insurance marketplace. CHCs have invested a significant amount
of time and resources for the uninsured to have access to in-person
assisters to help them apply for coverage. This webinar will help
educate CHCs on the business case for outreach and enrollment. Register here.
O&E: Maximizing O&E Staff & Continued Enrollment June 3, 2014 – 12 to 1:30pm
Community health centers successfully enrolled millions of individuals
into coverage during the first open enrollment that will end on March
31. However, individuals can still apply for coverage during the special
enrollment period and other enrollment opportunities such as
Medicaid. CHCs should maximize outreach and enrollment workers to
support their operations and outreach efforts in preparation for the
2014 open enrollment (November 14, 2014).

State-specific Brochures. All of Region X’s state-specific
brochures are now available online in English and Spanish. Anita
Monoian, NWRPCA Board Chair & CEO of Yakima Neighborhood Health
Services, commented “The brochure is meaningful for our In
Person Assisters to give to clients as a reference – reinforcing the
‘real time’ coverage they have just gained, and to use as a reference to
contact their health plan. More importantly for us, our staff can use
the brochure as talking points to highlight the basic responsibilities
for a consumer – starting with finding the right primary care provider.
Our staff is always anxious to share everything – this brochure helps
emphasize the important first steps.”
The brochures are all available for download on the state-specific pages of the O&E section of ‘s NWRPCA web site.
The brochure has gained national interest. Many PCAs, including CHAMPS
in Region VIII, will be adopting it. Complimentary copies have been
distributed to CHCs in Region X. Each CHC may print additional copies at
its own expense. However, NWRPCA has identified an organization that
can print them foe eight cents per copy. Please contact me for more
NWRPCA Spring Primary Care Conference. A full day and a half
(May 17-18) will be dedicated to outreach and enrollment. O&E staff
and leads should attend to learn about best practices, lessons learned
and looking ahead for the 2014 open enrollment. The session content,
speakers and details will be posted soon on the NWRPCA site. Stay tuned!
Rural Outreach and Enrollment. Families USA and Enroll America
have asked NWRPCA to develop a rural outreach and enrollment toolkit
that can be shared nationally. We are looking for CHCs in rural communities that are interested in being apart of a workgroup to act as a sounding board for the development of this. Please contact me for more information on this opportunity.
National Health Center Week. (August 11-17) This is a great
opportunity to plan some outreach and marketing efforts in preparation
for 2014’s open enrollment. NWRPCA has reached out to NACHC to
coordinate efforts around outreach for the Young Invincibles group
(adults 18-34). We are interested in hearing your plans or ideas for
O&E during this week.
