Are you leaving money on the table that should be coming to your health center for services rendered?

Effective revenue cycle management, including optimal coding and billing, is critical to a health center’s financial success. Understanding and maximizing Medicare billing and PPS rate changes are also fundamental to good fiscal health. Staffing, including the front desk charge capture function, is mission-critical as well.

This two-part webinar series was designed to help attendees understand the basics of revenue cycle management and calculate key performance indicators (KPIs) for determining CHC financial health.

To assist you in recognizing where you might be leaving money on the table, NWRPCA sponsored Improving Revenue Cycle Management Skills for CHCs, a two-part webinar series presented by PMG, community health center revenue cycle experts. Each webinar included Q&A.

1.5 CPE credits will be offered for each webinar, for a total of nine CPE credits for the whole two-part webinar series

Series One

Series One examined critical issues from Medicare billing basics to Medicare PPS rate and payment posting. Series One was especially beneficial for billers and coders, fiscal staff and clinical managers.

Sept. 9, 2015

Medicare Billing Basics

Does your CHC really understand how to maximize income from Medicare? Are your National Provider Identifiers (NPIs) up to date and accurate? Do you understand why and how to maximize income by submitting claims to Medicare Part A and B? How about the distinction between “core provider” encounter rate compensation vs. payment for diagnostics? Attend this session to demystify these challenges and more.

Sept. 23, 2015

Medicare PPS Rate as of October 2014

What has been your experience since October 2014 with the PPS rate changes? This webinar will provide follow-up on the provider coding changes (including G codes), fee schedule updates, billing system modifications and pricing methodologies to set fees associated with coding updates. This is also a chance to explore current implementation practices, what’s working, and where the challenges lie.

Sept. 30, 2015

Effective Reimbursement with Payment Posting

A key component to the revenue cycle process is payment posting (including unpaid and denied claim management using automated payment posting). Crucial to the process is the ability to understand remittance advice data and interpretation of the data, as well as the process of denials and non-covered services. Adjustments need to be properly allocated and balances collected. Data can be tracked and decisions made based on the data collected and processed. This is a chance to make the deeper dive into these issues.

Series Two

Series Two topics covered front desk and demographic charge capture, staffing of the revenue cycle management team and key performance indicators for supervisors, billing team members and financial staff and operations staff.

Oct 7, 2015

Front Desk and Demographic Charge Capture

Front desk demographic charge capture is mission-critical to optimizing your revenue cycle. Entry-level staff may be some of the most important people to train and retain for your revenue cycle success. This session will focus on the importance of a system of tasks and their frequency and accuracy to achieve data that will result in payment of claims.

Oct 14, 2015

Staffing of the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) Team

How efficiently does your RCM team perform? This session will examine the numbers, including: how many, production numbers, and activities performed centrally vs. clinic location.

Nov 3, 2015

Key Performance Indicators (KPI) Benchmarking Regionally and Nationally

Is your CHC fiscally healthy? What financial indicators are meaningful to you and why? What are acceptable performance levels and reasonable benchmarks for your billing department? Do you understand the value of negative net A/R? Attend this webinar and learn what is possible. Elevate expectations, enhance process, and watch performance soar. This session provides understanding of the most important billing benchmarks and how to calculate them at your FQHC. From Days in A/R to Net A/R to billing staff performance, you will have real, FQHC-specific answers to your questions relating to best billing practices. Bill for and collect all the money you are owed more efficiently and completely.
