The CDC is hosting a seven-part webinar series to help providers put into practice the CDC Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain.
The first of the series, an overview of the CDC recommendations will be held Wednesday, June 22nd at 2pm EDT. It will cover when and how opioids should be initiated for chronic pain, how to assess risk and address harms of opioid use, and when and how opioids should be discontinued.
Each free one-hour webinar will be available live and recorded, and offers continuing education credit to physicians, nurses, pharmacists, health educators, and other healthcare providers. Registration is not required to participate, but registration is required to receive continuing education credits.
The schedule of the first four sessions is below:
June 22, 2-3 pm - Overview of the CDC Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain (Addressing Recommendations 1-12).
July 27 - Non-opioid treatments (Addressing Recommendation 1).
August 3 - Assessing benefits and harms of opioid therapy (Addressing Recommendations 1, 2, 7, 8).
August 17 - Dosing and titration of opioids (Addressing Recommendations 4, 5, 7).
