With healthcare reform the centerpiece of national debate, we find ourselves Navigating New Healthcare Terrain. Join us as we offer the GPS that will Generate Positive Solutions. Our focus will be on quality, productivity, and innovative models of care and service, with a sincere effort to understand the status of healthcare reform to date.

The conference sessions are geared to CHC executive directors, clinical leaders, financial managers, human resource professionals, clinical operations managers and board members. Conference highlights include training for Medical Directors, multiple sessions on obesity, up-to-the-minute briefings by national leaders, more on the “medical home” or “healthcare home,” and Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement policies. We’ll feature our usual roundtable lunches and other networking opportunities as well as continental breakfast each morning.

Katherine Hayes of Jennings Policy Strategies, Inc. will provide an inside track to the healthcare reform debate as our keynote speaker on Monday morning. Having served as healthcare adviser to U.S. Senators and Representatives on both sides of the aisle, Ms. Hayes is perfectly positioned to understand and interpret the complex healthcare reform debate that raises such high stakes for community health centers. Her background includes experience with long-term care services and consumer protections, development of the Senate Mainstream Coalition health reform proposal, and legislation establishing Federally Qualified Health Centers and reasonable-cost reimbursement to those centers under the Medicare and Medicaid programs.

Tuesday morning’s plenary session will feature George Rust, M.D., MPH, FAAFP, FACPM,, an expert in building bridges between the academic arena and the front lines of primary care. The author of more than 50 publications on primary care and underserved populations, Dr. Rust has spent nearly 20 years teaching, doctoring, researching, and developing programs at the Morehouse School of Medicine. Today he serves Morehouse as the director of the National Center for Primary Care.
